Krakovany combines evidence of its Protestant history with distinctive historic buildings and memorial sites. The protected complex of the Protestant Toleration Prayer House in Krakovany comprises the prayer house, the Protestant vicarage at No. 34, the surrounding wall, and the associated plots of land. The Protestant congregation in Krakovany is listed in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic under number 49723/2–4398.

Culture and History

A sandstone boundary stone from Krakovany originally marked the cadastral area of Krakovany. According to local tradition, its engraved points represent a knife and a fork; two hearts may possibly also be discernible. Farmstead No. 28 in Krakovany has a very ornate gateway, while the farmstead's granary is dated 1832.

The former synagogue in Krakovany was probably built in 1863 and closed in 1906. Originally, it also served the religious needs of Jewish families from the surrounding communities; since then, it has been used as a storage facility and shed. The architecturally notable former Sokol House in Krakovany, dating from 1930, was converted into a cinema after 1950.

The Krakovany war memorial to those who fell in the First World War was solemnly unveiled on 1 May 1921. The Protestant cemetery in Krakovany was established next to the Protestant congregation in 1805; a mortuary was built in 1880. The German first-order KORALLE radar station near Krakovany and Uhlířská Lhota was built from the end of May 1944 until 6 May 1945.
