Kostelni Hlavno: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The present-day Church of St Peter in Chains was consecrated on 8 November 1807; it has been mentioned in Kostelní Hlavno since as early as 1339.

Culture and history

On 10 June 1923, a memorial to those who fell in the First World War was unveiled in Kostelní Hlavno. It is the work of sculptor Emanuel Zentner and was created in Brandýs nad Labem.

The former Kostelní Hlavno fortress was built along two important historic trade routes. Archaeological remains of this former fortress, including masonry foundations, were discovered in the garden of house no. 11. Local history also associates the niche chapel on the road to Hlavenec with the tradition that a leader from the time of the Thirty Years’ War is said to be buried there.

Things to see and do

The Kostelní Hlavno lookout tower is an eleven-metre-high former military watchtower that was moved there from Slánská hora near Slaný in 2011. It offers views of Kokořínsko, the Prague surroundings, Říp and the Bohemian Central Uplands. The tower is not freely accessible; the ascent is possible only with a trained guide.

Cycle route no. 8156 passes through Kostelní Hlavno. The local connecting route no. 8156 links Hlavenec, Kostelní Hlavno, Mečeříž, Slivínko and Dolní Slivno. It branches off from the regionally significant cycle route no. 0039, which runs from Podbrahy via Hlavenec, Lhota and Křenek.
