Chlístovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Chlístovice, the “Cestou husitských hejtmanů” educational trail follows the history of the Hussite military commanders. It runs through a natural setting along the Vrchlice stream and features 15 information panels and five rest areas.

History

Sion became the residence of Roháč and the administrative centre of a domain that included Chlístovice, Chroustkov, Všesoky, Miletice and Újezd. The ruins of Sion Castle feature a two-part layout; the outer bailey was fortified with substantial ditches and ramparts. One of the most significant sections of Sion is an approximately 3-metre-high artillery bastion, considered the oldest known artillery bastion in Europe.

Culture

The surviving Church of St Andrew probably has a Late Gothic core and stands with its cemetery alone on a hill above the Vrchlice stream on the outskirts of Chlístovice. The church contains a historic bell from 1509 by the Kutná Hora bell founder Ondřej Ptáček and a new bell cast in 2023 in memory of Josef Strnad, who came from Chlístovice and was executed by the Nazis in 1943.

Orientation

The Church of St Andrew is not permanently accessible for individual visits. Access to the church was intended for regular services and cultural events; guided tours for groups and individual visitors were possible by prior arrangement. Anyone wishing to visit the church is asked to contact the information centre at the Church of St Barbara.
