Miskovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Miskovice is situated in a gently rolling municipal landscape characterised by scattered woodland, extending from the edge of the Polabí lowland at 270 metres above sea level to 450 metres at the Vysoká viewpoint hill. The observation tower on Vysoká offers panoramic views over the surrounding forests, fields and villages. It is 38 metres high; its viewing platform is 25 metres above ground and can be reached via 144 steps.

Landscape and Nature

The natural area includes the Rybníček u Hořan National Nature Monument. It is the only natural site in the Czech Republic where the critically endangered dense-leaved waterweed (Groenlandia densa) is found. At Rybníček u Hořan, entering the water and picking plants are discouraged; fish farming is prohibited there.

The Miskovice pseudodoline depressions lie 0.5 to 1 kilometre north of Miskovice and preserve the last remaining pseudokarst formations in this area.

Culture and History

On the wooded summit of Vysoká stands the ruin of a hermitage known as Belveder, with the Chapel of Saint John the Baptist dating from 1697. The ruin of Belveder was entered in the central register of immovable cultural monuments of the Czech Republic in May 1958.

The Feldekův water mill complex near Bylany includes the mill building, a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, farm buildings, a barn and a stone enclosure wall. Between Bylany and Přítoky there is also the spring of Saint Adalbert. It is surrounded by a brick structure with a statue and is fed by a 180-metre-long flooded tunnel. In the past, this spring supplied all 16 fountains of Kutná Hora as well as numerous private houses with water.

About 50 metres north of the road between Mezholezy and Bylany stands a preserved lime kiln. It is considered a technical monument and is associated with the region’s long tradition of limestone extraction and lime processing.

The Neolithic settlement of Bylany is an important site of Czech prehistoric archaeology. Today, no traces of the prehistoric settlement are visible on the surface at the archaeological site.

The tvrz in Miskovice has a Renaissance core dating from the late 16th century. Some original Renaissance window surrounds have been preserved.

Things to Do

The southern loop of the Stříbrná stezka educational trail is an easy, 9.5-kilometre route suitable for families with children.

For cyclists, route CKH7 runs from Miskovice via Na Obci to Škvárovna, following a green-marked KČT route. It is 33.1 kilometres long, with a possible deviation of ±5 percent. Between Mezholezy and Miskovice, the route includes a steep descent on a narrow road.
