Čakovičky: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The history of Čakovičky is particularly tangible around the village pond: around 1617, several agricultural farmsteads with large inner courtyards were built there. To the east of the pond is a public green space with mature trees; a bell tower stands on a green island near the pond. There is also a monument beneath mature trees by the pond commemorating the community’s citizens who fell in the First World War.

Culture and history

The local chapel is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul; a chapel on the road to Kojetice was repaired in 2006. A restored memorial cross with a figure of Christ stands on the eastern edge of the cadastral area of Čakovičky. It was restored in 2008; the immediate surroundings of the monument were cleaned and refurbished for the 90th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia.

Landscape

Čakovičky is located in an agricultural landscape suitable for growing sugar beet and barley. Novoveský kopec [Nová Ves u Prahy], a hill, lies in the vicinity of Čakovičky. Prague Botanical Garden is located near Čakovičky.

In the wider regional surroundings of Čakovičky are the Stará kanalizační čistírna Praha-Bubeneč Museum, Zámek Ostrov Castle, Letohrádek královny Anny Castle, and The Golz-Kinsky Palace. The islands of Velké Benátky and Slovanský ostrov are also located there.

Community life

A Masopust procession takes place in Čakovičky every year. A traditional skittles tournament takes place during the pilgrimage.
