Culture and history

Malý Újezd has a granary dating from 1840 on the village square. The municipality considers it a landmark of Malý Újezd. The village square is also home to the Neo-Gothic Chapel of the Most Sacred Heart, dating from the early 19th century. It was renovated in 2016 and subsequently reconsecrated. A monument to the victims of the wars stands in front of the chapel. The first documented mention of Malý Újezd dates back to 1517.

Open spaces and trails

Jelenický plácek features a children's playground with an outdoor fitness area. Jelenický plácek also includes a recreational area. Rest areas have been established along the path from Jelenice to Vavřineč and in Vavřineč on the way to the forest. The rest areas in Jelenice and Vavřineč provide facilities for cyclists, mothers with children and seniors out for walks.

The cycle path, or cycle route 8171, runs from Mělník via Malý Újezd to Jelenice. The path to Vavřineč, lined with a poplar avenue, is used by residents for walks. The Vavřineč multifunctional sports field can be reserved.

Nature

The Pšovka River flows through Malý Újezd. The protected natural monument Dolní Pšovka also includes the cadastral area of Malý Újezd. The Dolní Pšovka protected area safeguards small watercourses, bodies of water and associated wetlands.

Near the Pšovka stream, partly within the cadastral area of Jelenice but predominantly within the cadastral area of Mělnická Vrutice, lies the important Polabská černava national nature reserve, designated as early as 1946. In the nearby area of Jelenice u Mělníka, Polabská černava protects calcareous peatlands and seasonally wet meadows.

The nearby Kokořínsko Protected Landscape Area, which is very easily accessible to visitors, offers numerous opportunities for recreation and sports activities.

Connections

The Lysá nad Labem–Ústí nad Labem railway line runs through Malý Újezd. A bus connection links Malý Újezd with Mladá Boleslav. Malý Újezd is also located on the I/16 road between Mělník and Mladá Boleslav.
