Culture and History
Vrelo Koreničko is a protected cultural landscape settlement in which traditional construction methods and ways of life are visible. The Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God is specifically recorded; in Croatia, it is registered as protected cultural heritage under the designation Z-6939.
The enclosed spring of the local water system dates from 1888. The settlement shows continuity from the Middle Ages through the period of the Military Frontier to the emergence of a small local centre in the early 20th century.
The historic character of Vrelo Koreničko also includes the old school, designated as a historic building within the settlement, as well as the local cemetery, which is one of the site's historic features. Traditional mills and bučice are characteristic agricultural buildings in Vrelo Koreničko.
A fortification called Prozor once stood above Vrelo Koreničko. It protected the passage between the fields of Koreničko and Homoljačko.
