Rastovača: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

At the eastern end of Lake Milanovac, the Milka Trnina Waterfalls commemorate the Croatian opera singer Milka Trnina. She donated part of her earnings to the Plitvice Lakes.

Those wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Rastovača can base their accommodation search on the lakes, trails and viewpoints.

Nature

Medveđak is an eight-kilometre-long, forested ridge offering panoramic views over part of the Plitvice Lakes and the area between Mala Kapela and Lička Plješivica. From the lowest peak of Medveđak, views extend towards Kozjak Lake, the area around the Great Waterfall, and the villages of Poljanak and Plitvica.

Along the Medveđak trail, information boards explain the forest ecosystem and other natural features. The old beech forests along the trail provide a habitat for rare and endangered plant and animal species.

Water

Lake Milanovac is lined by cliffs more than 20 metres high. A trail runs along the water, while stone viewpoints are located in the upper canyon. The Great Waterfall is 78 metres high; the water at its foot forms the source of the Korana River.

History

A hiking trail to Tupi Medveđak was laid out in 1894. Blankin put was created in 1900 as a path from an accommodation facility to Oštri Medveđak and was named in honour of Princess Blanka.

On the way

Entrance 1 is the northern entrance to Plitvice Lakes National Park. From there, visitors can choose between four marked lake tours.

From Entrance 1, the circular programmes at the lakes provide access to the canyon of the Lower Lakes, the Great Waterfall, the Sastavci Waterfalls, several lakes with proper names, and Kozjak Lake. These programmes also include rides on electric boats and panoramic vehicles.

From Entrance 1, a tourist trail leads either downhill to the Great Waterfall or through the Lower Lakes onwards to Kozjak Lake.

Surroundings

The Šupljara Cave is located nearby; it is the only cave in Plitvice Lakes National Park open to visitors.
