Prijeboj: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Prijeboj forms part of the cultural landscape of Plitvice Lakes National Park. The village is home to the former forest lodge, a protected cultural heritage site built in 1954 to the design of architect Zvonimir Marohnić, which is now in a dilapidated state.

Culture and history

The Chapel of St Peter and Paul in Prijeboj was completed in 1847. A cemetery enclosed by a dry-stone wall lies directly beside it. The ruins of the chapel stand outside the settlement of Prijeboj on a hilltop.

The public spring in Prijeboj forms part of the Čuić Krčevina–Ličko Petrovo Selo water system. The stone bridge in Prijeboj is listed in the proposed Category 3; this category indicates local significance.

Routes

Prijeboj is named as the endpoint of the D429 state road section between Selište Drežničko and Prijeboj. This section provides access to Plitvice Lakes National Park from Zagreb and Zadar; buses also operate along the D429.

Historically, the road ran from Plitvički Ljeskovac via Mirić Štropina to Prijeboj and continued via Jezerce to Velika Poljana on Lake Kozjak.

Landscape

The Prijebojske bare are considered to be located in the eastern part of Plitvice Lakes National Park, halfway along the Korenica–Plitvice road. They include a flat grassland complex.

Ogredljivi Vrh is located in the immediate vicinity of Prijeboj. Jelovi Vrh, Mihaljićin Vrh and Mladonjin Vrh lie in the surrounding area. Radetina Kula and Sveta Petka are located in the wider regional area.
