Korenica: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Korenica developed below the medieval town of Mrsinj, which was the seat of the Krbava Diocese. Those who choose Korenica as their travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture

The Church of Saint Michael and Saint Gabriel stands in Korenica. In Croatia, it is listed as a preventively protected cultural asset and recognised as an immovable cultural asset.

Astronomsko društvo Korenica was founded on Valentine's Day 2003 to popularise astronomy. The society works with children and adults; visitors can meet its members and enjoy astronomical attractions.

Nature

The Mrsinj Grad hike climbs from Korenica to the ruins of the Mrsinj Grad fortification. The ruins offer views of Korenica, Gola Plješevica and northern Croatia.

Several cycling routes also run through the landscape. Popolju runs through Koreničko polje, follows the course of the Matica stream to its point of disappearance underground, and returns via Gradina Korenička. The Oko Mrsinja MTB route circles Mrsinj and passes through the Krbavica valley; along the way, it passes Vrelo Matice as well as the fields and pastures around Mrsinj. Obroncima Plješivice follows the slopes of Lička Plješevica and offers views of Korenica, Bjelopolje and the summit of Plješavica.

Events and Cuisine

The AB maraton Plitvice is traditionally held in Korenica in June. Restaurant Šapina serves traditional dishes from the Lika region.

Geographical Location

Korenica can be reached from the direction of Otočac via the D52. Buses run on the D429, connecting inland Croatia with the coast, while Likaline provides local bus services throughout Lika-Senj County.
