Holiday apartment in Ježeprosina: Visočica, Stećci and Via Dinarica

Culture

The Late Antique fortification of Gradina in Ježeprosina is located on an elevated plateau of a large karst mountain. High on the slope of Mount Visočica lies the Late Antique fortification of Međubrđe; a church and a Late Antique vaulted tomb were located near the fortification.

Ježeprosina is mentioned at the beginning of the 16th century. According to a tradition recorded in 1897, a former church site was located on the Ježeprosinsko polje in Ježeprosina; it has since become overgrown with scrub and thorns.

At the Vuč-kamen site, also known as Grkovina, there is a large necropolis with a total of 130 Stećci. On the Kraljuša hill next to the village houses stand two isolated, box-shaped Stećci.

Nature

The Jasika elevation lies above the villages of Luka, Ježeprosina, Vranići and Odžaci and reaches a height of around 1,200 metres. In Bjelimići, Jasika blocks the view to the south and southwest and contributes to the snow remaining there longer than in the Župa Valley and Glavatičevo.

Visočica is a scenic plateau that slopes down towards Bjelimići and offers opportunities for excursions, hiking and photography. In the north, pastures lie at around 1,300 metres, while the southern part is covered by dense forests.

Things to do

The challenging Via Dinarica stage BH-W-09 runs for 30.4 kilometres from Lukomir via Visočica to Bjelimići and onward to Ljuta. One route leads through Ježeprosina and Luka, where the first break is scheduled. Via Puzim, the route continues uphill across Visočica towards Šehinovci and Korita.

The Zoran Šimić bivouac is located at the exit of the Rakitnica Canyon towards Visočica, through the Međeđa Valley, at the point where Bjelašnica and Visočica meet through the canyon. The path by the bivouac passes two drinking-water springs; blueberry fields lie beside the path at several points.

In the Bjelimići area, opportunities for cycling, walking, running, sport climbing and hiking are available in summer. While travelling through the valleys, views open up of the Crvanj and Velež mountains and later of Prenj.
