Klövedal combines nature experiences, art and regional history in a unique way. At its heart is Pilane, an 8-hectare natural and cultural landscape featuring rocks, valleys, thousands-of-years-old historical remains and contemporary artworks. The Pilane burial ground is an archaeological site open to visitors and adds an impressive perspective on the connection between landscape and the past.

Guided tours lasting approximately 90 minutes are offered at Pilane and must be booked in advance. Those who would like to combine their visit with a break will find a café at the entrance serving pastries, coffee, other drinks and ice cream. This makes it possible to tailor the excursion in different ways: as a cultural highlight, a walk through the landscape or a stopover on a trip with several interests.

Hiking Trails Through Open Landscapes and Forest

For active days, Säbyleden is an excellent choice. The circular trail starts at Säbygården and passes through open landscapes, grazing areas and forest. You can choose between two routes: the longer route is 6 kilometres long and leads to the old stone hut and back. A shorter 4-kilometre option skips the detour to the stone hut. This choice makes planning easier when comparing a longer day of hiking with a more compact route.

Along the way, Säbyleden showcases a variety of landscapes: the trail passes through deciduous forest, wet meadows, seashores, scrubland and grassland. Subtle orange markings indicate the route. Säbygården itself is a large farm dating from the early 19th century and is one of the best-preserved buildings of its type in Bohuslän. A cycle path also runs through Säby, connecting Brevik with the Pilane burial ground.

Nature, Views and Culture in Klövedal

The Björshuvudet Nature Reserve covers areas in Björshuvudet, Halsbäck, Klövedal, Önneröd, Kolleröd, Vik and Toröd. Its landscape includes deciduous forests, grazing areas, coastal meadows and nutrient-rich fens; to the north, the area is surrounded by the saltwater of Stigfjorden. From the rocky hilltops, you can enjoy views over the archipelago landscape of Stigfjorden. Those who want to combine nature observation and physical activity during their holiday will find a distinct focus here alongside the trails around Säby.

Cultural history is also very much present in Klövedal. Guided tours of Villa Solfrid introduce you to the story of the gold miner's daughter Elin Sundberg. At the age of 36, she had Villa Solfrid built, a castle-like stone house on a barren marshland near her parents' farm, Rusmut, in Västra Sunna on Tjörn. In Klövedals kyrka, the bridal crown is made of gilded silver; a church service is held there every Sunday. A rock carving in Klövedal depicts 13 ships and approximately 10 cup marks.

Choose Accommodation to Match Your Travel Plans

When looking for a holiday apartment or holiday home in Klövedal, you can first decide which experiences should shape your stay. Pilane and Villa Solfrid are particularly appealing to those interested in culture, while Säbyleden, Björshuvudet Nature Reserve and the cycle connection make other day plans possible.

A day at the beach can also be included in your itinerary: Ängevikens badplats has a sandy beach, a grassy area and a jetty running along the rocks. In addition to art, history and hiking trails, Klövedal therefore offers another way to make your days varied.
