A particular focus is placed on the Gustavsberg collection, which contains more than 45,000 objects. Gustavsberg’s porcelain factory has been producing porcelain since the 1820s; the first porcelain was fired there in 1827. The largely preserved factory buildings and workers’ housing illustrate the development of an industrial society over approximately 160 years. In Porslinsriket, 200 years of porcelain history meet modern production, art and handicrafts. Gustavsberg also has more than 100 studios with active craftspeople. The permanent outdoor exhibition Fotoparken complements this focus with contemporary photography.

It can be walked year-round.

In the immediate surroundings of Gustavsberg, east of the town centre, lies the Ösbyträsk nature reserve around the three-part lake Ösbyträsk. Coniferous forests predominate there; the higher ground has pine forest growing on rocky terrain. A 4.5 km loop leads through the natural surroundings of the lake. In addition, near the bathing area, the loop has an approximately 1 km-long accessibility-adapted section. An outdoor fitness trail is located directly along its western section. Those who want to alternate between culture and nature when planning their trip can consider the shorter walks in the harbour and the longer loop around the lake as different options for the day.

The blue bus route 474 from Slussen towards Hemmesta or Mölnvik stops at Gustavsbergs hamn. In summer, day trips by boat from Stockholm to Gustavsberg are also offered; these take approximately two hours. These two options provide different starting points for planning your trip: You can reach Gustavsberg by public transport or plan the town as the destination of a summer boat trip.
