Norråker between the Loggers’ Trail and the Mountain Birch Forest

Norråker particularly appeals to travellers who enjoy spending their days outdoors while discovering different landscapes. A historic trail, varied hiking routes, rest areas and designated natural areas offer several ways to explore the surroundings step by step. For families, the child-friendly Vitterstigen near the village is an informative choice: signs provide information about plants, animals and other interesting topics.

A special connection to the region’s history can be seen along Flottarstigen. It was used for log driving along the Sjoutälven. The route from the petrol station in Norråker to Flottarkojan is 5 kilometres long. Those interested in the former use of the landscape can include this trail in their travel plans and consider the route a separate excursion.

Hiking Trails with Different Landscapes

The Midsommarfjället hiking trail passes ponds, crosses marshes, runs through spruce forest with thick trunks and climbs uphill through mountain birch forest. This sequence makes the trail interesting for anyone looking not just for a single landscape, but wanting to experience different vegetation zones along one route. Depending on your personal preferences, you can plan your day around the changing landscape sections along the trail.

The Inge nature trail also offers its own perspective on the landscape. It starts at the edge of the village on the border with Västerbotten and follows Lake Tåsjön to the outflow of the Saxälven. The trail therefore places a clear emphasis on bodies of water and shoreline landscapes. At the Inge nature site, there is a wind shelter, a barbecue area and an outdoor toilet hut. Norråker also has several designated rest areas with barbecue facilities and wind shelters.

Discover Nature and Combine It with Exercise

The orchid species Nornan and Guckuskon are designated in the forests around Norråker. The area around the flowers is cordoned off and protected by boardwalks. Those interested in special plants will find a natural feature here that differs from the longer hiking routes.

There are also two cross-country skiing and exercise trails to choose from. They start above “Parken” and are signposted from the centre of the village. For the classic style, Norråker has prepared cross-country ski trails measuring 1, 2.5 and 5 kilometres. When planning your holiday apartment, you can therefore consider whether you would like to combine your stay primarily with hikes, nature observation, breaks at rest areas or exercise on the ski trails. The different route options provide the thematic framework for your trip without every day having to look the same.
