Punta Prima beach is a natural beach with golden sand.

History

The former Carabineros barracks in Punta Prima was built in the 19th century to control coastal smuggling. The Punta Prima barracks and an air-raid shelter built later were subsequently used to establish an anti-aircraft battery as part of the coastal defence plan of the Cartagena naval base. During the Spanish Civil War, a detachment of Artillery Regiment No. 3 from Cartagena was stationed at these sites.
