History
The Castillo de Petrer is a fortress built at the end of the 12th century by the Muslim inhabitants of Bitrir. It consists of an upper citadel, the Alcazaba, and a lower esplanade enclosed by a defensive wall. The Casas Cueva de Petrer were created at the beginning of the 20th century as homes on the grounds around the Castillo de Petrer. In the restored Casas Cueva next to the castle walls, you can visit an ethnological experience; household objects as well as tools and equipment from traditional crafts have been preserved there.
