Casa Ligués in Cintruénigo is a neoclassical palace with three building sections and an attic made of stone and red brick. It features balconies with curved and triangular pediments, a Baroque coat of arms from the 17th century and a painted wooden eave.

Culture and History

Casa de la Cadena, also known as Casa de Portazgo, was built as a customs house in 1783. A chain stretched across the road was intended to prevent carts carrying goods from passing through without paying the applicable duties.

The Iglesia de San Juan Bautista was built between 1510 and 1587 as a hall church with three naves of equal height, star vaults and a polygonal, pentagonal apse.

The Casa Museo del Médico Rural illustrates the life of a rural doctor in the 20th century, as well as the development of medicine and his legacy in the community, through furniture, medical instruments and documents donated by the family. The house has been preserved as the family left it, offering visitors a journey through time.

The Ermita de la Purísima is considered to be the first temple in Spain dedicated to the Immaculate Conception.

Nature and Trails

The Centro de Interpretación de la Naturaleza, renovated in 2024, is located on the banks of the Alhama River. It is the starting point for all nature trails in Cintruénigo. The grounds of the Centro de Interpretación de la Naturaleza also contain a BTT centre for off-road cycling.

La Estanca has an observation tower between two ponds. From there, various duck species and other typical waterfowl can easily be observed.

La Estanca is part of the circular Ruta Saludable y Cultural del Valle Alhama, which passes through Corella, Cintruénigo and Fitero. The Alhama River is home to a great diversity of species, including the European mink, kingfisher, heron and otter.

Festivals and Regional Specialities

Cintruénigo is one of the 22 municipalities in Navarre that belong to the Asociación de Municipios de la Vera Cruz. The Travesía de la Vera Cruz is 900 kilometres long and passes through eight autonomous communities.

The main Fiestas de la Virgen de la Paz in Cintruénigo take place from 7 to 13 September in honour of the town’s patron saint.

In Cintruénigo, visits to wineries with wine tastings and visits to an olive mill with a tasting of toast with oil are offered. There is also a market with handmade products, as well as pincho routes with musical accompaniment in the streets.
