Old Town and Architectural Heritage

The historic centre of Los Arcos has a medieval layout with long, parallel streets; remains of the former town wall were reused in later buildings. On its western side stands the Puerta de Castilla, also known as the Portal de Castilla, a Baroque-style gate made of dressed stone. It was built in the 17th century and restored in the 18th century; the French Way of the Camino de Santiago leaves Los Arcos through the gateway. The Casa Municipal del Coso, also known as the Balcón de Toros, is a Baroque building whose construction began in 1736.

Trails and Hermitages

The Ruta de los Escudos is a short cultural and historical walk through the medieval historic centre of Los Arcos and begins at Plaza del Coso. The Rutas de Los Arcos consist of four routes through the municipality of Los Arcos, dedicated to the themes of hermitages, springs, coats of arms and Monte Zobazo. These routes are suitable for walking and cycling. The Ruta de las Ermitas y Fuentes is available in a short and a long version. Landscape

The Ruta de Zobazo passes through a steppe landscape with flat valley floors, steep, deeply incised slopes, table mountains and individual closed depressions.

Culture and Regional Traditions

The Ermita de San Blas is a Romanesque chapel from the 12th century that was later remodelled in the 18th century. It is located on the old Camino de Santiago towards Viana, not far from the town centre, and was originally dedicated to Saint Lazarus. The church of Santa María de Los Arcos can be visited free of charge from May to October; it is opened by volunteers from the Asociación de Amigos del Camino de Santiago. An additional 20-minute audio-guide tour is available for €2.

The Casa de Cultura Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza offers a monthly programme of theatre, cinema, concerts, discussion events, conferences, courses and permanent exhibitions. At the Feria del Camino de Santiago: Jornada del Peregrino on the Saturday before 14 August, handicraft products are exhibited, sold and demonstrated; typical regional products are also available for tasting.

Transport and Motorsport

Los Arcos is located at the junction of the N-111 and NA-129 roads, at kilometre 63 of the N-111. The Circuito de Navarra near Los Arcos is a multidisciplinary motorsport complex with a 2.7-mile road-racing circuit, a half-mile karting track, a drift track, an off-road area and extensive facilities. It offers open track sessions, karting, track and facility rental, corporate events, F4 vehicle rental and the Navarra GT Experience.
