Culture

A central religious building is the parish church of San Pedro Apóstol. It is a cultural asset of special interest, a BIC, and has been under full protection pursuant to a resolution dated 22 April 1983. The church was built between 1562 and 1677. Beneath its tower is a baptistery with a flattened vault and a stone baptismal font.

The Ermita de la Virgen de la Soledad was built in 1576 by the Cabildo de Nuestra Señora del Rosario to house the image of the Quinta Angustia. Today, it houses the image of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad. Sidewalks along the road connect the hermitage with the town centre; its front area has been refurbished.

The Ermita de la Virgen de la Humosa also combines several periods. It was built in 1677 on the site of an earlier chapel that had existed since 1384. The building is Baroque and has brick walls and masonry. Inside are a single-nave body with a barrel vault and a raised choir at the end, a square main chapel with a dome resting on pendentives, and a lantern.

Traditions and Paths

The Ermita de la Virgen de la Humosa is associated with a deeply rooted pilgrimage tradition, whose dates are the Sunday after the feast of Saint Isidore – popularly known as San Isidrillo – and the last Sunday in August.

At the Camino del Monedero and Cerro de las Monjas, the works included consolidating and repairing the path surface to ensure pedestrian safety. At Cerro de las Monjas, the works also included improved information signage and the installation of elements for resting and taking in the surroundings.

A separate activity is offered by the children's track at Karting Club Los Santos. It is suitable for beginners and for improving driving skills; karts can be rented there, and driving skills can be further developed with support from the driving school.
