Collado-Villalba: Panoramic Trails and Cultural Heritage

Collado-Villalba’s natural landscape is particularly evident on Route 1: Altos de Villalba, a panoramic hiking route offering views of Collado-Villalba and the Sierra de Guadarrama. It runs entirely through the protected Parque Regional de la Cuenca Alta del Manzanares. Nature

The nature trails differ not only in their routes, but also in the information available and the habitats that can be observed. Route 2: La Chopera passes through various ecosystems – oak forest, poplar woodland and scrubland – and offers opportunities to observe different plant and animal species, especially birds. The interpretive trail of the Dehesa Boyal de Collado Villalba provides information about the fauna and flora as well as the historical and ethnographic aspects of this dehesa, whose origins date back to the late 13th century. The fully accessible circular trail is 3.2 kilometres long and equipped with 14 information panels. Coto de Las Suertes is a protected Mediterranean woodland with large stands of juniper, ash and oak trees, where traces of mammals can be observed. Culture

The Museo del Bonsai in Parque de Peñalba houses a permanent exhibition featuring unique specimens. Collado-Villalba’s festival week takes place around 25 July, when the feast day of Santiago Apóstol is celebrated; during this period, sporting and cultural activities are held.

Getting There

Villalba de Guadarrama railway station in Collado-Villalba offers Cercanías services on lines C8B, C8A and C10, as well as interurban bus route 720 and urban bus routes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6. The station is partially accessible and has a lift, escalators, a paid park-and-ride car park, mobile phone reception and bicycle parking.
