Culture

The El Beneficio archaeological site comprises the remains of several Roman buildings and a section of road. El Beneficio is protected as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the category “Archaeological Area of Interest”; the designation was made on 21 June 2012.

The parish church of San Ildefonso was built in the 18th century from stones from the former church and the Chapel of San Juan. It houses a 17th-century high altarpiece transferred from the Mercedarian nuns’ convent in Madrid. In front of the entrance stands a stone cross erected in 1745.

The Roman complex of El Beneficio can be visited as part of a guided tour by prior arrangement with the municipal administration.
