Valparaíso – Water, Trails and Regional Discoveries
Valparaíso combines the Embalse de Valparaíso reservoir with a beach at the entrance to the town and surroundings where water, trails, churches and landscapes can be observed. The Embalse de Valparaíso is suitable for fishing from a boat. A beach at the entrance to Valparaíso is considered attractive to tourists. Culture and Events
The parish of Valparaíso is dedicated to Santa Marina. Nature and Trails
The Ruta BTT La Carballeda leads from Mombuey for seven kilometres along paths through oak groves to the Embalse de Valparaiso reservoir. One of the local routes leads to a beach. The “La Blanca” route runs for around 2.5 kilometres around the reservoir. This places a longer route through oak groves, a path ending at a beach and a shorter loop by the water alongside one another.
The six local routes are marked, signposted and shown on a simple map. The maps also show the locations of springs as well as the flora and fauna visitors may encounter. Different trail lengths, route types and destinations give the routes a clearly distinguishable profile: the seven kilometres of the Ruta BTT La Carballeda, the approximately 2.5 kilometres of “La Blanca” and the references to beaches or springs do not describe the same route. The information about flora and fauna is also part of the map display and is presented alongside the trail routes.
Surrounding Landscape
In the wider regional surroundings of Valparaíso lie the Peña Mira peak, the Penha da Cruz mountain, the Alto de Peña Negra peak and the Alto da Ladeira hill. The four landforms are located alongside one another in the wider regional surroundings of Valparaíso; their respective names and terrain types distinguish them from one another. Deer can be observed near Valparaíso without having to travel far from the town. Thus, the spatial classification includes both named elevations in the wider surroundings and an opportunity to observe wildlife near Valparaíso.
