The river locations are also clearly identified: the Río Pirón lies southwest of Mudrián, while the Río Malucas lies north of the village. You can consider these different natural features separately when planning your visit or mentally connect them with the cultural highlights.
Village Character and History
The Iglesia de San Bartolomé stands on Mudrián’s Plaza Mayor, a Baroque church built around 1760. Above the lintels, which are also made of brick, the church’s windows have brick relieving arches that reinforce the wall openings.
The Fuente de Los Caños is part of the local heritage. Historically, it had one section where residents drew water for their homes and another where livestock was watered.
Mudrián was founded by residents who had left the now-abandoned village of Losáñez. La Cotarra de la Navaza in Mudrián has been identified as a settlement site from the Visigothic period.
Towards the end of the 18th century, schools for spinning hemp were established in Mudrián and Gomezserracín. They were supported by the Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País of the Province of Segovia.
Festivals and Traditions
Mudrián’s patron saint’s festival in honour of San Bartolomé takes place on 24 August. On the last Sunday in September, Mudrián takes part in the San Benito de Gallegos pilgrimage.
