Culture and history

Construction of the parish church of San Silvestre began in 1619 on the site of an older church dating from 1599. Villares de la Reina’s most important local festival is celebrated in honour of the Santísimo Sacramento. The Corpus Christi procession is accompanied by the Agrupación Musical Virgen de la Vega.

At the medieval Feria announced for 4 and 5 May 2024 in honour of Queen Berenguela, there was a falconry demonstration and a workshop on painting your own medieval costume. A medieval Feria also included a torchlight procession from Plaza de la Fuente to Plaza del Ayuntamiento, a fire show, and opportunities to fly birds yourself.

The municipality’s cultural programme included 17 activities for all age groups during the 2024/2025 course year. In the Centro Cultural Luis Tristán, the Asociación de Mayores San Silvestre holds afternoon activities, along with various workshops supported by the municipal departments for senior citizens and culture.

Leisure and events

The Auditorio Municipal “Reina Berenguela” has space for 430 people; concerts, theatre performances, conferences, and magic and comedy events can take place there. The Centro de Ocio y Deporte José Martín Méndez has a multi-purpose court for futsal, basketball, and handball.

The courts at the Centro de Ocio y Deporte José Martín Méndez can be rented by the quarter: Monday to Friday from 19:00 to 23:00, all day on Saturdays, and on Sunday mornings, provided that no school or other scheduled events are taking place. Villares de la Reina’s outdoor swimming pool has changing rooms built in 2022, including family areas and facilities for people with reduced mobility.

The XVIII Marcha Cicloturística of Villares de la Reina was scheduled for 5 September 2026. Among others, bus routes 25–35 and 33–36 run from Villares de la Reina to Salamanca; route N35 runs on Saturday nights via Salamanca, Villares, Monterrubio, and San Cristóbal.
