History and townscape

The Dolmen La Morisca is a prehistoric, circular burial mound in the municipality of Nava de Francia that may have served as a megalithic tomb. The Museo al Aire Libre of Nava de Francia comprises stone sculptures installed at various locations throughout the town, including a welcome composition featuring the words La Nava.

The parish church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Nava de Francia was built in the 15th century and is designed in the Gothic style. The Camino del Peñasco begins at the El Casarito recreation area in the municipality of Nava de Francia. Festivals and traditions

El Perrero is an intangible cultural heritage tradition of Nava de Francia and is celebrated on 31 December to mark the end of the year. During El Perrero, a costumed figure, accompanied by two alguaciles, walks through the streets of the town.

The festival of Santo Cristo lasts five days in August. 18 August is the main day, featuring a mass, a procession with the statue, regional dances and offerings.

La Calbochada is a Nava de Francia tradition observed on All Saints’ Day, during which chestnuts are roasted and offered to the municipality’s residents.

The festival in honour of San Blas has medieval origins and is believed to date back to the 13th century. It includes a mass and a procession with the saint’s statue around the parish church, accompanied by gaita and tamboril.
