The festival of the Ermita de Villasfrías takes place on the second Saturday in May. The specific date helps with planning the timing of a visit. The festival is jointly organised by Vegas and Villanueva; in even-numbered years it is organised by Vegas, and in odd-numbered years by Villanueva. The festival includes a communal meal featuring a local bean stew for the participants.

The history of the Ermita de Villasfrías also spans several periods. It is the successor to the former parish of San Salvador. During renovations in 1998–1999, the foundations of an earlier chapel in the shape of a Latin cross were uncovered. The present Ermita de Villasfrías probably dates no earlier than the 14th century, and possibly not until the 15th century.

The parish church of Villanueva del Condado is dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel. Together with the ermita, this dedication provides a second ecclesiastical historical reference in the town.
