Tubilla del Agua – Waterfalls, Rudrón and Culture

A hiking route in Tubilla del Agua begins at three waterfalls: La Fuentona, El Torco and Las Pisas are located in the village, before the trail follows the winding course of the Rudrón.

Nature

The Hoces del Alto Ebro y Rudrón Nature Park encompasses all or part of the municipality of Tubilla del Agua. It promotes awareness of and engagement with its natural and cultural values from an educational, scientific, recreational and tourism perspective, as well as orderly public use.

The Arroyo Hornillo forms several waterfalls as it passes through Tubilla del Agua. The Cascada de Santa Olalla is located in the lower part of Tubilla del Agua. The Cascada de la Fuentona is situated outside the centre of Tubilla del Agua and can be reached via a path. The Cascada de los Torcos is approximately 15 metres high and can be seen from a purpose-built viewpoint with a grating floor.

The Mirador de Tubilla del Agua, located within Tubilla del Agua, offers views of the canyon of the Rudrón River as well as a 360-degree panorama of the Rudrón Valley. It includes a secure, protected platform.

The Tubilla del Agua hiking route through the waterfalls, the Cañón del Rudrón and the Páramos is 15.5 kilometres long, takes around seven and a half hours including explanatory and meal breaks, and has 360 metres of ascent. The Cascades Route is a 4.1-kilometre circular trail leading to Tubilla del Agua’s main natural attractions and taking less than two hours.

Culture

The Arco Medieval was built as part of an old town wall and marks the entrance to the former village area. The Iglesia de San Miguel was built in the Romanesque style and later acquired Gothic and Renaissance elements. Its south portal has a monolithic lintel and a tympanum decorated with an equal-armed cross. The Ermita de San Roque dates from the 16th or 17th century. The festival in honour of San Roque is celebrated every year on 16 August at the Ermita de San Roque with a Mass and a procession.
