The parish registers of Armentia begin in 1550. The name Armentia first appears in 1025 in the cartulary of the Monastery of San Millán de la Cogolla.

Ventas de Armentia was of great importance during the Carlist War. The portal of the Church of Armentia has a round arch; it is located beneath a closed, vaulted porch, which has now collapsed and features a large flattened arch made of ashlar stone.

Armentia is located near the “Camino real”, a road that crosses the county from west to east. In the past, two major routes crossed the Ayuda River at the site of what is now the centre of Ventas de Armentia.

The settlement of Ventas de Armentia emerged when some residents moved their houses closer to the “Camino real”.
