History

Construction of the Nuevo templo parroquial began in 1965 and was completed in 1976. The Nuevo templo parroquial has a hexagonal floor plan and a stepped pyramidal roof. The Pazo de los Duques de Patiño developed from an earlier tower. Repeated alterations and restorations resulted in a pazo from the late 18th century surrounded by gardens. The building of the Pazo de los Duques de Patiño is L-shaped and consists of a ground floor and an upper floor. The Iglesia de San Ginés is a small church in the town of Sanxenxo. Between 1670 and 1780, it was moved by Aldariz to its present location in Sanxenxo.

Sanxenxo therefore brings together different traces of historical periods: the Nuevo templo parroquial dates from the second half of the 20th century, while the pazo dates from the late 18th century. The Iglesia de San Ginés additionally preserves the memory of its relocation by Aldariz between 1670 and 1780. Architecture becomes tangible here both through its form and through its local history.
