Samos: Monastery, Trails and Nature

The monastery complex of Samos includes a museum with seven exhibition rooms. It presents the origins and development of the monastery. The works on display range from the 3rd century to the present day. The Monastery of Samos is located on the northern edge of the municipality’s main town. Capela do Ciprés is about 100 metres from the Monastery of Samos. It is suitable as a closely connected additional point of interest.
Culture

Trails

Nature
The Camino de Carballal begins in the centre of Samos. It is a circular trail approximately 9.5 kilometres long. The walk takes about 2.5 hours. It is classified as easy. The Camino de Carballal leads to the Penabranca viewpoint. Its final section runs along the banks of the Oribio between willows and poplars. Val de Lóuzara is located in the municipality of Samos. Because of its natural richness, it is designated as a Site of Community Importance within the Natura 2000 network. Val de Lóuzara offers a selection of hiking routes and sights. Fervenza de Santalla cascades down between chestnut trees. The waterfall is approximately 25 metres high. The path to Fervenza de Santalla is 1.1 kilometres long (one way).
