Bolmente brings together named viewpoints, circular trails and distinctive landscape experiences. The Ruta del Eucalipto del Médico is a circular route measuring 4.45 km. It begins beside the Miradoiro de Boqueiriño, opposite the Mosteiro Santa Cristina de Ribas de Sil. The starting point and viewpoint are therefore directly connected to a named monastery building on the opposite side.
Nature and Viewpoints
The Miradoiro de A Cividade is located more than 500 m above the river. A metal walkway extends several metres out into the canyon. The walkway was created by landscape architect Isabel Aguirre. Its construction takes the viewpoint beyond the edge of the terrain and makes the view into the canyon an integral part of this place.
From the Miradoiro de A Cividade, waterfalls that feed the Sil can be seen during periods of heavy rainfall. As a result, the appearance of the river and the surrounding slopes changes with rainfall conditions. There is also a small recreational area at the viewpoint. Nature observation, canyon views and a short break are brought together spatially at the same named location.
Hiking and Circular Trails
The approximately three-kilometre connection between the Miradoiro de Cividade and the Miradoiro de Boqueiriño is suitable for hiking and observing the local flora and fauna. The approximate length describes a separate connection between two viewpoints and complements the 4.45-km Ruta del Eucalipto del Médico with another named section of trail.
A circular route in Bolmente begins at the Romanesque church of Santa María and passes through native woodland to the mysterious petroglyph site of da Paxota. Along this route, the Romanesque church, the woodland section and the archaeological site are therefore encountered successively. The petroglyph site of da Paxota is a clearly designated destination on the route.
Wine and Local Culture
A circular route ends with a guided wine tasting at Bodega Cividade. The winemaker conducts this wine tasting by prior reservation. The tasting is thus linked both to the conclusion of a circular route and to an appointment requiring an expressly stated reservation. Alongside the churches, viewpoints and petroglyphs, Bodega Cividade is therefore also one of the named stops on the local trails.
Cycling
The Bolmente's Viewpoints Cycle Tourist Route is not signposted for bicycles; the use of a GPS device is recommended for this route. The cycling route therefore differs in its signage from the hiking connections described above and has its own designation. Anyone exploring this route by bicycle should follow the route using a GPS device.
