Coast and nature

If you would first like to discover Foz via its coast, almost 15 km of beaches line the Ría de Foz. The sand on these beaches is very fine and white.

The estuary of the Ría de Foz-Masma is an internationally recognised resting and wintering site for birds. There are many routes in the area of the Ría de Foz-Masma. They run around the Masma River.

Surfing is associated with the Ría de Foz. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are also water sports associated with it. Canoeing and sailing are included as well.

The coast and estuary represent different landscape features: almost 15 km of fine, white sand line the Ría de Foz, while the Ría de Foz-Masma is recognised as a resting and wintering site for birds. Numerous routes around the Masma complement this landscape.

Paths and views

The Paseo de Malates is a hiking route at the mouth of the Río Centiño. The coastal path from A Rapadoira to Llas runs along the cliffs. It is 2.5 km long; this distance applies only to the outward route.

The route to Pena Cornería reaches an altitude of 437 m. It offers panoramic views over the Mariña coast. A hiking route leads to Corneira and passes various sights in the municipality.

From Corneira, there are views of Foz and neighbouring localities.

The named paths therefore pass through various points of interest in the municipality: the Paseo de Malates is located on the Río Centiño, the cliffs run between A Rapadoira and Llas, and the route to Corneira passes sights in the municipality. Corneira itself offers views of Foz and neighbouring localities.

Culture and festivals

The Castro de Fazouro is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural. The Entroido de Foz is classified as a Galician festival of tourist interest.

If you plan to attend the spectacular Entroido de Foz parade on Carnival Saturday, it lasts more than three hours. The Festas Patronais de San Lourenzo are also classified as a Galician festival of tourist interest.

The Festas Patronais de San Lourenzo include octopus tastings. A queimada festival is also part of these celebrations.

For the Entroido, in addition to its classification as a Galician festival of tourist interest, Carnival Saturday and the duration of the parade are also mentioned. San Lourenzo combines this classification with octopus tastings and a queimada festival.

Bispo Santo recreational area

The Bispo Santo recreational area has tables and benches. Barbecue facilities are part of its amenities. A nearby water source is also available.
