Teixeiro: Culture, Hiking Trails and Regional Festivals

The Centro Etnográfico de Teixeiro has exhibitions. Guided tours are also part of its offerings. Workshops and courses are also offered by the centre. The centre also hosts meetings. These meetings are organised by public and private institutions. The centre offers educational visits. They are aimed particularly at school-age young people.

Culture and History

The archaeological site of Castro das Cotorras is located in the vicinity of Teixeiro and is listed as an ancient site. Hiking and Nature

A Ponte Mascoto is a hiking route. It connects Teixeiro and Mascoto over a distance of 3 km. Ruta dos plátanos is also a hiking route. This route connects Santaia and Teixeiro over a distance of 3 km. The SM.02 Ruta paseo fluvial de Carregal follows the Carregal River through Teixeiro. The Ruta de Aves: Río do Carregal passes through a riverside woodland. Numerous bird species inhabit this habitat.

The two routes, each 3 km long, differ in the connections they specify: A Ponte Mascoto runs from Teixeiro to Mascoto, while Ruta dos plátanos connects Santaia with Teixeiro. The Feria takes place on two fixed dates each month.

Events

The Feria de Teixeiro takes place on the 5th of every month. It also takes place on the 18th of every month. The venue is Plaza de España, in front of the town hall. As part of the XIX Exaltación dos Cogomelos de Teixeiro, the programme included a gastronomic route through participating food establishments. This route passed through food establishments in Curtis and Teixeiro. Along the route, the participating food establishments offered various tapas. There were also small dishes and meals prepared with mushrooms. As part of the XIX Exaltación dos Cogomelos de Teixeiro, a mushroom hunt in the forest was planned. Experts from the Asociación Pan do Raposo led the search. Anyone interested could take part in the mushroom hunt.
