Discover O Pino: Way of Saint James, Nature and Culture
O Pino combines the French Way of Saint James with wooded paths, the Tambre River and ecclesiastical architecture. Eighteen kilometres of the French Way of Saint James run through O Pino. O Pedrouzo is the starting point of the final stage of the Way of Saint James. The 18 kilometres provide a clear framework for planning part of a pilgrimage route. When planning stages, they can be used to organise breaks and the desired daily distance.
In O Pino, hiking, landscapes, festivals and architecture come together in specific places: the Senda botánica do río Mera leads through a green setting, the Church of San Xulián de Lardeiros is characterised by Baroque features, and the Festa do Galo Piñeiro is part of the local festival calendar.

The Senda botánica do río Mera includes the section from Praia da Tarroeira to the Muíño de Pena. For an excursion along the río Mera, both endpoints provide a fixed geographical framework. The French Way of Saint James complements this natural aspect with a distinctly spiritual and cultural dimension.
Churches, festivals and traditional stories
The Church of San Xulián de Lardeiros is a Baroque church from the 17th century. For those interested in culture, Lardeiros links the Baroque Church of San Xulián with the Itinerario Cultural da Montaña. Because of its size and beauty, it is known as the “Cathedral of the Mountain”. It is also one of the most important stops on the Itinerario Cultural da Montaña.
The local festival calendar includes the Festa do Galo Piñeiro, which is recognised as a festival of Galician tourist interest. In the parish of Lardeiros, Corpus Christi is celebrated on the last Sunday in July, while San Ramón takes place at the end of August.
A traditional story also forms part of the character of this place: according to tradition, the spring at Carballeira de Santa Irene is credited with the secret of eternal youth.
Trees, leafy canopies and the Tambre River
The Carballeira de Santa Irene covers more than 3,000 square metres of old trees surrounding the chapel. At Santa Irene, the spring and the chapel are surrounded by old trees. In the Corredoira de Cimadevila, a naturally formed leafy canopy stretches between Amenal and Cimadevila. It includes laurel, elder, chestnut, oak and wild pear trees, among others.
In O Pino, the Tambre River is part of the protected areas of the Natura 2000 network.
