Cerceda: Museums, Natural Areas and Cultural History

At Cerceda Water Park, the Kamikaze slide runs down a 54-metre descent. One of the directly associated destinations is O Campo Da Feira.

Culture and History

The Museo do Moucho contains more than 5,000 objects. It features sculptures and paintings by Galician artists, books and goldsmith's work. The collection thus brings together various artistic, written and craft forms of expression in one place.

The Ecomuseo interprets the natural environment. Its themes also include the history, economy and society of Cerceda. Natural areas and local history stand alongside one another here, as do economic and social developments.

The Pazo de Boedo was designated a cultural asset of special interest in 1994. The Spanish designation for this classification is Bien de Interés Cultural. This status is therefore part of the history and classification of the building.

The Museo da Minería opened in 2015. It is intended to illustrate the landscape and socioeconomic impacts of the Meirama mine in Cerceda. The exhibition therefore focuses on the changes associated with mining for the landscape and society.

The Castro de Cerceda is an archaeological site of the Castro culture. A gold torc was found at this site. The find is one of the specific archaeological traces associated with the location.

The Church of San Román de As Encrobas was built at the end of the 12th century. It was later rebuilt several times. It therefore reflects both its medieval date of construction and subsequent alterations.

Nature and Trails

The Aula da Natureza is an environmental education facility in the area around the Cabancos River. It is integrated into the natural area formed by the riverside promenade and the Botanical Garden. Environmental education, the riverside area and the garden thus belong to the same described natural area.

Cerceda's Botanical Garden is used for walks and recreation. It also serves to educate and provide information about local biodiversity. Its use therefore combines spending time outdoors with imparting knowledge about the area's biological diversity.

The Fervenza do Lago das Encrobas is located on the left bank of Lake As Encrobas, also known as Lake Meirama, in the municipality of Cerceda. The waterfall and the lake therefore form another named landscape feature within the municipality.

On the Cerceda route, mills on the Lengüelle River are among the listed sights. A wooded landscape is also part of this route. The watercourse, historic mills and woodland form the expressly named components of this route.

Local Event

The Festa Gastronómica do Cochiño takes place in Cerceda on the last Saturday in July. The festival complements the museums, buildings and landscape sites with an annual event on the local gastronomy calendar.
