Holiday apartment in Arzúa: Pilgrim Routes, Waterfalls and Culture

Arzúa offers several different ways to experience its landscapes, pilgrim routes and special attractions. The section of the French Way from Arzúa to O Pedrouzo is 18.2 kilometres long and has very little elevation change. Pilgrim history at Capela da Madalena and in Ribadiso

The Capela da Madalena in Arzúa is located on the Camino del Norte, the French Way and the Primitive Way. The Ribadiso complex offers another connection to pilgrim history: dating from the 13th and 14th centuries, it includes the last pilgrim hospital on the French Way as well as a medieval bridge. A public pilgrim hostel, founded in 1993, is also located in the former pilgrim hospital in Ribadiso. The recreation area in Ribadiso, situated on the River Iso, has a picnic area in an oak forest. The picnic area in the oak forest provides a specific place to take a break in the Ribadiso recreation area.

Waterfalls between Arzúa and Touro

The Cascada das Hortas consists of two waterfalls, each about 30 metres high, and forms a natural boundary between the municipalities of Arzúa and Touro. The Ruta de la Fervenza das Hortas leads to the cascade: it starts at the River Iso near Fonte Santa and ends at the Fervenza das Hortas. Together with the French Way section, the route offers a different way to experience Arzúa, without implying any additional distances or walking times.

Crafts, bees and the Terra do Queixo exhibition centre

Over two consecutive event days, the “Terra do Queixo” exhibition centre becomes a place for exchange, bringing together exhibitors, artisans and professionals. The O enredo do abelleiro Honey Museum offers another perspective. It provides group workshops on beekeeping, candle-making and bottling. Using photographic panels, the museum presents the life of bees and the work of the beekeeper; it also has a laboratory and various modern and traditional beehives. Prior contact is required to visit the Honey Museum. This is an important point if you want to plan varied days with fixed activities for children or a group.
