Arcos: Waterfalls, Mills and Monte Pindo

The Fervenza da Noveira reaches a height of around ten metres and features natural pools spread across several levels.

Nature

In summer, the water level at A Noveira is low. This exposes a rocky area that becomes a natural pool. The Fervenza de Enxilde is a waterfall also known as Rego da Ribeiratorta. More than a dozen mills are scattered along the Rego de Ribeiratorta. The course of the Rego de Ribeiratorta is just under three kilometres long.

The name Rego da Ribeiratorta refers to the same waterfall as the name Fervenza de Enxilde. The waterfall and mills are therefore associated with the course of the Rego de Ribeiratorta. At A Noveira, the low water level in summer changes the appearance of the rocky area and exposes the natural pools.

There is an oak grove near the village of Figueira. It covers more than 20 hectares. The parish of Arcos lies at the foot of Monte Pindo.

Culture

Getting around
