Nature

The Clots de la Barquera wetlands, also known as Les Terres, are located within the municipality of La Secuita. The area covers 4.6 hectares and features reed vegetation, partially flooded areas and open bodies of water. Birds breed in the Clots de la Barquera; at the same time, the wetland serves as a resting area for migratory birds.

Culture and History

After a long restoration, the Sagrat Cor de Vistabella church was finally reopened for worship. The temple is classified as a Bien Cultural de Interés Nacional and is a Modernist church designed by the architect Josep Maria Jujol. In May 2018, the Primavera Musical a Vistabella was launched to bring contemporary art and music to the Sagrat Cor de Vistabella church.

In the centre of La Secuita, the parish church of Santa Maria has three naves; the central nave is Gothic, while the exterior is Baroque. Casa dels Frares belonged to the Servite monks of Vila-rodona. The churches and Casa dels Frares thus represent different historical approaches: sacred architecture, heritage status, the work of an architect and the connection to a religious order.

Routes through Four Settlements

The signposted “Ruta dels 4 pobles” route allows visitors to visit the four settlements of L’Argilaga, Les Gunyoles, Vistabella and La Secuita. It can be completed on foot or by bicycle. The four settlements and the two modes of transport give your planning two clear levels: you can structure your choice more around the places or around the activity you want. The four settlements give the route its spatial structure; the choice between walking and cycling also indicates the desired mode of movement. Those who place the sequence of settlements at the centre will read the route differently from someone who mainly distinguishes between the two modes of transport.

Getting There

Camp de Tarragona railway station is relevant for your journey: it is located in La Secuita, 11 kilometres from the city of Tarragona, and is served by regular intercity bus lines. Two Cercanías lines also stop at the station; there is a taxi rank and parking facilities there.
