Nature
At MónNatura Delta, salt, traditional fishing and birdwatching take centre stage. The site includes reconstructed salt pans, a museographic area covering the formation and seasonal changes of the delta, a 360° viewpoint for observing birds and the landscape, as well as traditional punt-boat trips. MónNatura Delta offers self-guided visits every day from 10:00 to 19:00.
Casa de Fusta is the interpretation centre of the Ebro Delta Natural Park at the Encanyissada lagoon. Its outdoor area has a viewpoint overlooking the lagoon, which is used for birdwatching.
Culture and History
The Pont Penjant d’Amposta is the world’s second-oldest reinforced-concrete suspension bridge. Well into the 20th century, it was the bridge with the longest span in Spain and the fourth-longest in Europe; its span is 134 m. Molí de Cercós was the first rice mill on the Ebro.
The grounds of Castell d’Amposta preserve a significant archaeological heritage from an Iberian settlement, an Andalusian husun, the seat of the Castellania d’Amposta and industrial use. The Museu de les Terres de l’Ebre is headquartered in Amposta and preserves more than 35,000 objects from the fields of nature, ethnology and archaeology. It houses one of the most important collections in the Terres de l’Ebre.
Lo Pati is a contemporary art centre in Amposta featuring exhibitions, visual art, film festivals, concerts and performances.
Routes along the Water
The Amposta–Casa de Fusta route starts at the Amposta tourist office, reaches the Ullals de Baltasar and then continues along the cycle path beside the Encanyissada to Casa de Fusta. The different starting points and themes can be considered separately for planning purposes.
The route to Torre de la Carrova starts at Amposta’s river port. The river route relating to the Battle of the Ebro leads upstream from Amposta along the Ebro to Torre de la Carrova and passes places in Amposta connected with the events of the Battle of the Ebro. The beach has two access points: via dels Eucaliptus road and via the road to Poble Nou.
