Discover Prulláns: Cova d'Anes, Dolmens and Trails

Culture and History

From Prulláns, you can reach the entrance to Cova d'Anes on foot via the Camí del Serrat de Calm Bolvir trail in one hour. Cova d'Anes consists of two galleries, and the cave system is approximately 355 metres long in total. Bronze Age finds give the cave historical significance: they indicate that the Neolithic settlement of this area, evidenced by the Dolmen d'Orèn, continued to exist.

Near Orèn are the remains of two dolmens associated with the megalithic culture of the second millennium BC. The better-preserved dolmen near Orèn is a collective tomb with a simple chamber.

Sant Esteve de Prullans is a single-nave rectangular church from the 12th century, with a pointed barrel vault and a slightly offset apse. At the site of the former entrance, it has a baptistery with a baptismal font. Its interior is decorated with paintings by the artist Aurora Altisent depicting the Creation.

The Masia d'Orèn features interior Visigothic arches and defensive towers. The Casa dels Barons de Prullans is a large fortified manor house built next to the church of Sant Esteve.

The Mare de Déu del Roser d’Ardòvol dates back to a Romanesque church or chapel from the 11th century and was rebuilt in the 19th century. The latest restoration was inaugurated in 1998.

Nature and Views

The Mirador de Prullans offers panoramic views southwards over the Moixeró sector and the eastern section of the Serra del Cadí. From the Mirador de Prullans, you can look out over the Segre at Riberola in the protected Segre-Prullans Partial Nature Reserve, with its dense riverside woodland.

The Mirador de Prullans can be reached directly from the N-260 in the direction of Puigcerdà. On the way back to Prullans, Itinerari conscient 9 follows old traditional routes, with sections on vehicle tracks and paths, stony areas, open landscapes, and wide-ranging views of the Cadí and the Cerdanya plain.

Trails and Cycling

El Camí dels Bons Homes is a cross-border long-distance tourist hiking trail on the GR 107 that follows the migration routes used by Cathars in the 13th and 14th centuries. The stage from Bellver de Cerdanya to Viliella passes through Prullans and Ardòvol; it is 12.5 km long, takes 3 hours 45 minutes, and has an elevation change of +650 m/-100 m.

The Volta per Prullans route begins on Carrer del Puig de Prullans in front of the Local Social. It is suitable for everyone and explores the area around Prullans.

The Cerdanya MTB Centre includes Prullans as one of eight starting points for mountain-bike routes of varying difficulty levels.
