Arànser: Cross-country ski trails, mountain lakes and Sant Martí d’Arànser

The Nordic ski resort of Aransa is located in the village of Arànser, in the municipality of Lles de Cerdanya.

Winter

The Aransa Nordic ski resort has 32 km of cross-country ski trails at elevations between 1,850 and 2,150 m. In winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are among the main activities at the Aransa Nordic ski resort.

The circular routes at Aransa pass through dense stands of black pine and across high-alpine meadows. The nature park is the high-alpine natural centre of the Aransa Nordic ski resort.

In summer, the nature park at the Aransa Nordic ski resort is available to families and visitors who love nature.

Culture

In the centre of Arànser, a village at the end of the valley of the river of the same name at an altitude of 1,470 m, stands the church of Sant Martí d’Arànser.

Sant Martí d’Arànser is a church of Romanesque origin with a rectangular floor plan and a single nave.

The present-day building was completely remodelled in the 18th century; the year 1720 is inscribed at the entrance.

The roof of Sant Martí d’Arànser features a metal structure with two clock bells; the church is 24.05 metres high.

Nature

The traditional footpath to the Mirador del Pla de Llet begins at Fornell and follows a marked trail that leads to the viewpoint in about an hour.

In winter, the Mirador del Pla de Llet can be reached from the Nordic ski resort on skis or snowshoes.

From the Mirador del Pla de Llet, the view extends across the entire Cerdanya Valley and to the Sierra del Cadí.

The Estanys de la Pera are two lakes in a small glacial cirque at the upper end of the Arànser Valley.

Font de les Pollineres is a recreational area with barbecue facilities and stone tables for picnics, as well as a small mountain hut.

Font de les Pollineres is also a starting point for the marked trail to the Estanys de la Pera and for ascents to several nearby peaks, including Perafita, Tossal de la Truita, Monturull, Torreta del Soldat and Tossal Bovinar.

Routes

The Martinet–Lles–Martinet MTB route is considered fully rideable. A challenging 23.7 km circular MTB route runs from Martinet via Travesseres and Músser to Arànser and on to Lles.

The Muntanya de Lles route lists Arànser as one of its points of interest.

The nature park rents mountain e-bikes from Aransa and describes the access route to the Estanys de la Pera as the fastest.

Getting there and places to eat

Arànser can be reached via a local road from Martinet through Travesseres and Lles, or from Músser.

Access to the Estanys de la Pera is from Martinet via the LV-4036 road towards Lles, followed by the road to Arànser and an asphalt track to Fornell. During the summer season, when visitor numbers are particularly high, there is usually a shuttle bus service there.

The El Fornell restaurant is located by the ski slopes and serves homemade dishes, grilled meat and grilled vegetables at an altitude of 2,000 m.
