Quart: Ceramics, Trails and Landscape

The Museu de la Terrissa de Quart is located in Quart, in the former Santa Margarida or Can Ginesta brickworks; the brickworks was founded in 1908. Red, oxidized terracotta ceramics have also been produced in Quart since at least the 19th century.

The combination of the museum and ceramic production points to two historical layers of the place: the industrial history of the former brickworks and a craft tradition that dates back at least to the 19th century in Quart. Ceramics and History

The landscape is thus characterized by a transition from the wooded area of Les Gavarres to the flatter riverside zone shaped by the Onyar. Hills, plain, open woodland and riverside forest belong in this sequence to the same geographical setting around Palol d’Onyar.

Trails and Cycling Routes

The Ruta del Carrilet II runs from Girona to Sant Feliu de Guíxols. This route is listed as 41.9 kilometers long and having a gentle gradient. One section of the Ruta del Carrilet II runs from Quart through Llambilles to Cassà de la Selva. This section is 13 kilometers long and connects the railway stations.
