Culture and History
The Ermita de Sant Miquel is a Romanesque church from the 12th to 13th century with a single nave and a semicircular apse. The Dolmen del Puig d'Esquers is a Neolithic passage grave with a narrow pentagonal chamber and was built between 3200 and 3000 BC.
These two structures reflect different historical periods: the Ermita belongs to the Middle Ages, while the dolmen dates back to the Neolithic.
Landscape and Views
The area of Albera with the greatest geological interest lies around Puig d'Esquers in the municipalities of Llançà and Colera. Veta Blanca is a panoramic viewpoint in the La Rovellada area. The Dolmen del Puig d'Esquers is located in a place with exceptional views over the Empordà.
Several of these places are connected with Puig d'Esquers or its surroundings. The Albera area is located around this mountain in the municipalities of Llançà and Colera, while the dolmen offers views over the Empordà. Veta Blanca belongs to the La Rovellada area and is a panoramic viewpoint there.
Bridges and Coastal Places
The Pont del Ferrocarril was built by the Eiffel company in 1878 and is an iron viaduct 188 m long and 20 m high. Cala Rovellada is a pebble cove that is easy to reach on foot or by car.
