Teià – Roman Wine Archaeology, Art and Trails

The Celler romà i Centre Enoturístic i Arqueològic de Vallmora is a cultural institution in Teià and includes an archaeological site from Roman times. The Roman winery of Vallmora was a wine-production centre in Roman Laietania, with activity documented from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD. The visitor programme at the Centre Enoturístic i Arqueològic de Vallmora includes a guided tour at 11 a.m. with a glass of DO Alella wine; advance booking is absolutely essential.

Art and History

The Fons Batllori Jofré comprises more than 2,000 objects and drawings. The collection is distributed across a faithfully preserved original studio, an archive and a permanent exhibition. The archive preserves around 1,500 originals. Groups can request a guided commentary tour at the Fons Batllori Jofré, which also includes any temporary exhibition that may be running.

The permanent exhibition of the Fons Batllori Jofré at Ca la Cecília opened on 11 September 2007. It presents a biographical account with commentary of the illustrator Antoni Batllori Jofré (1915–1999), as well as important stages of his career, including his beginnings, the influence of Junceda, the Spanish Civil War, his heyday and his relationship with Teià.

The church of Sant Martí is characterised by a portal made of carved Montjuïc stone with a triangular pediment depicting Saint Martin on horseback, as well as a large Neo-Gothic window from the 1902 renovation.

Nature and Trails

The SL-C 111 Ruta del Vedat is a circular hiking trail with a low level of difficulty. It begins in Teià and passes through quarries, springs, cultivated areas and granite formations in the surrounding area of the municipality.

Teià is one of the municipalities within the Parc de la Serralada Litoral. The park's protected administrative area covers 4,042 ha.

From the Coll de Clau car park, visitors can follow the GR 92 to the Sant Mateu hermitage, which is 2.3 km away.

The municipal bus route C-15 connects Teià town centre with the centre of El Masnou and Ocata railway station.

Festivals and Cuisine

Around 11 November, Teià celebrates the Festa Major de Sant Martí with correfocs and drumming processions, a gathering of giant figures, the Cercatasques, competitions and tastings of Relleno, as well as exhibitions, music and theatre. The traditional Relleno of the Festa Major de Sant Martí is a slow-cooked dish made from apples stuffed with meat and other ingredients.
