Culture and History

Sant Llorenç was consecrated in 1891 as a replacement for the former parish church, which has been documented since 1032. Several disc-shaped grave stelae from the former cemetery have been preserved inside Sant Llorenç. The Pou de Gel d'Argençola is considered a historic ice storehouse.

Festivals and Family Activities

The Festa Major d'Argençola takes place every year around 10 August in the town's streets and squares. During the Festa del Tió d'Argençola, participating families search the forest for Tió logs and take part in workshops, games and activities for children.

Hiking

The “Ruta a peu Argençola, Rocamora, Contrast, Argençola” hiking route is an easy trail. It covers 12 kilometres and 200 metres of elevation gain; its stated duration is seven hours. The municipal “Ruta a peu Pou de Gel” hiking route is also easy and covers four kilometres with 152 metres of elevation gain. The stated duration for this trail is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Both routes are classified as easy hikes, but they differ considerably in distance, elevation gain and stated duration.

The stated duration for each route can be used directly when planning a day of hiking: the route via Argençola, Rocamora and Contrast is estimated at seven hours, while the Pou de Gel route is stated as taking 1 hour and 30 minutes. The twelve and four kilometres respectively, as well as the 200 and 152 metres of elevation gain, also make the scale of the two easy trails clear.
