Priego can be explored through its craft traditions, historic architecture and landscape. At the Museo de Etnografía y Artes Populares, permanent exhibitions showcase pottery, wool and blankets, the Gancheros and basketry made from willow.
Culture
The museum is housed in a building dating from 1690 that was formerly the residence of an Inquisition commissioner. In Priego, active pottery workshops continue to offer activities for all age groups.
A distinctive religious tradition is the Procesión de Reverencias. During this procession, the Custodia takes the place of the risen Christ and encounters the Mother, who is symbolized by the Virgen de la Torre.
The Iglesia de San Nicolás de Bari is a late Gothic church with three parallel, equally high naves.
For personal planning, exhibited crafts, sacred tradition and buildings from different periods can be considered separately, without equating these cultural focal points.
