Historic Houses

In the district of Rodanil, the Casa Gótica dates from the 15th century. The single-storey building has a square floor plan, a central Socarreña façade and two wings. The Casa de los Leones owes its popular name to two crowned lions that support the coat of arms on one of the side walls of the house.

In the district of Herrera, the Casa de Velarde was recognised as a Bien de Interés Local in 2002. The parish church of San Román in Viérnoles was built in the mid-16th century; only the apse remains of the original building. The surviving apse has a square floor plan, a Gothic structure and Renaissance-style decoration. The church also has a Baroque portal with a broken frame and ear ornaments.

The traditional Fiestas de San Jorge in Viérnoles include regional dances performed by Los Picayos de Viérnoles, followed by a procession and a mass in honour of the patron saint.
