Villa: Trails along the Narcea Canal and culture in Corvera

In Villa, trails follow the Narcea Canal, while the Iglesia de San Juan de Villa and the Panera de Lloreda add distinctive features of their own. The Senda del Agua (PR-AS 049) is a linear route that follows the course of the Narcea Canal. The Ruta Villa leads to Entrialgo, to the section of the Ruta del Agua along the Narcea Canal, then continues to El Fabar and El Truébano, before heading towards Tras La Iglesia. The Ruta Villa takes approximately four hours. A hike with this approximate duration can be planned as a separate part of the day.

Trails along the Narcea Canal

The Senda del Agua is 23.5 kilometres long in total. Of this, 7.430 kilometres run along paths and roads through Molleda and Villa in Corvera. In Villa, it follows the canal past Fabar, Barreiro, El Truébano and La Llaguna. Along the way, visitors can see an overflow structure and a siphon. The route thus combines a clearly described course with individual technical structures of the canal located directly along this section.

The two routes differ in their course: the Senda del Agua remains a linear route along the Narcea Canal, while the Ruta Villa lists several named stops between Entrialgo, El Fabar, El Truébano and Tras La Iglesia in succession. For hikes with a set duration, it is worth checking the current trail conditions before setting out. On linear routes, current transport options may also be relevant when planning the day.

Cycling along the waterways

For cyclists, the Ruta del Agua leads to El Fondu Villa and then via the AS-319 to the section of the Senda del Agua that runs parallel to the canal supplying the Trasona Reservoir. The Ruta del Agua de Corvera is a very easy, family-friendly circular cycling route. For bike tours, current route conditions and, where applicable, timetables for the outward and return journeys can be checked in advance. Culture and history

The Iglesia de San Juan de Villa is a parish church in Villa. Its structure has a single-nave layout, a rectangular vaulted apse, a tower at the rear end and side chapels. Another notable building is the Panera de Lloreda. It stands on eight pegollos above a stone masonry structure and dates from 1819. Villa is one of the parishes of Corvera containing important ethnographic heritage. The church and panera represent different forms of construction: the articulated parish church is followed by the raised panera, an agricultural building with a documented date of construction. Visits to the church may depend on current opening hours, which can be checked before visiting. Historic buildings thus bring together different aspects of day planning: opening hours affect the visit, while architectural form and year of construction shape the cultural tour.
