Ribadesella between Cave Art, Coast and Nature
Ribadesella opens a window far back into the past: in the Cueva de Tito Bustillo, more than 100 engraved and painted depictions are arranged in 11 groups. The cave is located in the Ardines karst massif in Ribadesella. A permanent exhibition at the Centro de Arte Rupestre Tito Bustillo is dedicated to its discovery, geological significance, inhabitants and cave art.
Culture and History
The Ruta Histórica del Puerto is an open-air museum with six ceramic murals depicting local history from prehistoric times to the modern era. Along the Paseo de la Grúa, the route provides information in Braille and audio options.
The cliffs of Tereñes are home to one of the most important Jurassic sites for dinosaur footprints in Ribadesella. The site can only be accessed via the access path at low tide. The cliffs feature parallel tracks made by ornithopods, one track made by a theropod, and a stegosaur track with hand and foot impressions.
Nature and Trails
Parque del Malecón has a public path through its marshland and is an urban wetland with observation points for migratory birds and other birds. The La Mediana route passes through a broad floodplain formed by the Sella, with scrubland and reed zones that provide a habitat for many migratory birds.
The Cuevona de Cueves is a natural cave through which the access road to the village of Cueves runs. It is approximately 300 metres long and features stalactites, stalagmites and sinter formations. The Ruta de los Molinos follows a stream through a narrow, densely vegetated valley with old grain mills. Most of the mills are ruins, while the last one is called Molino de Francisco.

Coast
Playa Santa Marina is a spacious beach with fine sand and a seafront promenade. Water sports, especially surfing, are possible there.

Getting There
Ribadesella can be reached via the A-8 using exits 326 Ribadesella oeste Pando-Bones and 319 Ribadesella-Llovio. The N-634 from Oviedo and the N-632 from Gijón also lead there. RENFE connects Ribadesella via a narrow-gauge railway on the Oviedo–Santander route.
