Lago lies along a section of the Mampodre River, whose gorge stretches from Fontecha to the villages of Tospe and Lago. The Mampodre River comes from Mota de Cetín, flows through a gorge to the villages of Tospe and Lago, and there the valley begins to open up at Romillín. Culture

The cultural side of Lago and Llau ranges from an archaeological site to religious building and festival traditions. The Abrigo del Mampodre archaeological site is located in Lago (San Juan de Parres); lithic material was found there.
